Md. Arif Chowdhury
Md. Arif Chowdhury is a Research Associate in the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), BUET. He is presently doing Masters in Disaster Management from Dhaka University at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS). Before he worked on Participatory Carbon Measurement for REDD+ in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. Besides, he is working as founder coordinator of a youth led organization named as Youth Volunteer of Environment where he was awarded the National Joy Bangla Youth Award 2015. He is also working as Active Citizen in British Council and participated International Study visit 2015 in Uganda and the World Humanitarian Summit – Global Youth Consultation 2015 in Qatar as a member of UN Major Group for Children and Youth. Moreover, as a ‘Climate Tracker’ he completed the “South Asia Journalism and Climate Change Adaptation Workshop” held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2016. He authored 5 international articles along with the conference proceedings. His areas of interest are disaster management, migration and adaptation.
